About Family Frolics Walks: Join GVTA hike leaders on family oriented walks/hikes. What you can expect: slower paces, between 1 and 2 hours, shorter distances (2 to 4 km). When: usually the last Sunday of each month at 2 pm.
Come exploring nature with family, kids and friends. 
All ages are welcome and no hiking experience is necessary. Everyone is welcome - not just families! Please note: children under 16 should be accompanied by adults.

About this hike: Join Michele Martin and Ron Cherry for an easy family-friendly stroll along the Grand River at Stanley Park Optimist Natural Area to explore the wonders of nature and observe what plants, trees, animals and the river are up to in late summer/early fall!

About the leaders: 
Michele and Ron are both certified hike leaders. Michele has over 40 years of experience as an environmental educator and a loves spending time in nature and with people, a perfect combination for family hikes!
 Ron has been a hike leader since 2016. He lives in Kitchener and have been a GVTA member for over ten years. He is also a trail captain for a section of GVTA trail near where he lives.  He is a certified PaRx Connector.

Where: Stanley Park Optimist Natural Area, Kitchener
Length: 2-3 km
Category: In and Out
Pace and duration: Easy, 1-2 km/h. About 1.5 - 2 hours depending on what we find and the best pace for kids and/or seniors.
Hike level: Easy (1). Relatively easy, wide gravel path along the river through the forest, mostly flat.. 

Parking and departure: The hike will start at 2:00 pm. Please arrive 10 minutes earlier. Park in the parking lot off Shirley Drive near Victoria St N (43.479330, -80.425735). 

Directions: Please use your favourite GPS app to obtain directions.
 
What to wear and bring: Dress according to weather. Wear good shoes (sneakers okay). Bring water, and sunscreen

Sorry, no dogs on GVTA hikes with the exception of certified service dogs.
