Pinehurst Lake Conservation Area - 10 km

About this hike: Pinehurst Lake is a 9-hectare kettle lake surrounded by a Carolinian Forest. There are extensive hiking paths through the conservation area and we will follow a series that take us around the perimeter of the park. The trails are packed earth that take you through rolling hills and beautiful forested areas. There is a bit of quiet road walking in the park.

About the leader: Jane is a new hike leader with GVTA, eager to get out with like-minded people who love to spend time walking in the woods and who would rather be outside than in. She hiked in various areas of the country for years and likes to hear about others’ experiences.

Hike level: Intermediate (2). Mainly wide trails, some roads within the park.

Parking and departure: The hike will start at 9:30 am sharp. Meet at 9:15 at the parking area just past the gatehouse, Robinson Rd, Ayr, ON N0B 1E0 (43.265124, -80.389290). There is limited parking at that location but more down the road at the main parking lot. However we will be starting our hike from the gatehouse so carpool as much as possible to get a spot. If you have a GRCA pass you can take up to 6 people into the park, and parking is included. There are daily fees to enter the Conservation Area if you do not have pass, visti the website to get informed. If you are carpooling it is 19$ per car (6 people included) or 9.50$ per adult / 7.50$ senior (65+).

What to wear and bring: Bring water and snacks and wear sturdy footwear. Be prepared for the weather, rain gear as necessary, bug spray and sunscreen. Hiking poles are optional. 

Sorry, no dogs on GVTA hikes with the exception of certified service dogs.
