Regrettably we have had to cancel our traditional festive dinner this year due to the pandemic. However, given the current environment and the growing need in our community, we have opted for a different way to spread the cheer this year. The GVTA is sponsoring a food drive on Sunday, December 6. Our goal is to raise 100 pounds of food, or roughly the equivalent of 80 meals which is slightly more than the attendance at our festive dinner. You are invited to:
Join the GVTA board of directors in giving hunger the (hiking) boot!
Drop off a donation for the Food Bank on Sunday, December 6th at one of three locations:
11am to 12 at Lorne Park in Brandford
12 pm to 1 pm at Victoria Park off entrance, off Schneider Avenue in Kitchener
1 pm to 2 pm in Waterloo Park at parking lot F (next to the Granite Club), about 200 metres past the intersection of Albert St. and Seagram’s in Waterloo
Look for the GVTA sign and a few of our board members! We hope you can participate in this GVTA initiative!
See below for list of foods particularly needed. Staying away from the grocery stores at this time? Cash donations to the FoodBank are also welcome! Donations can be made on line at: https://www.thefoodbank.ca/gvta/. Alternatively, your cheque payable to “The Food Bank of Waterloo Region” can also be dropped off at one of our drop off points on December 6. (Tax receipts will be issued directly from the Food Bank.) Hope to see you on December 6!
