      <title>Trails on Thursday: Strasburg Creek Community Trail  - 5.3 km (11 Jun 2026)</title>
      <description>&lt;p data-text="BT Iroquoia Section E2E - Day 6: Highway 6 to Guelph Line, 19 km" data-tooltip-position="bottom" data-tooltip-vertical-offset="0" data-tooltip-horizontal-offset="0" data-tooltip-only-if-necessary="true"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;About hike:&lt;/strong&gt; On this beautiful community trail in the middle of the city we will explore the stunning forest (with mature trees including hemlock trees), the creeks, the ponds and even a cornfield as we walk on packed dirt floor, bridges and boardwalks. Listen for birds and look for trout and turtles in the water!&lt;/p&gt;

She plans to walk the Camino one day. &lt;strong&gt;Hike level:&amp;nbsp;&lt;/strong&gt;1 (easy). The path is a mix of crushed gravel and woodchip mulch. Exposed roots may cause tripping hazard. Comfortable shoes are recommended.&lt;/p&gt;

Our search will extend to Flowerpot Island &amp;nbsp;(cost approx. $65.00 for the bottom ferry and Parks Canada fee). The wildflowers in the &amp;nbsp;Tobermory area at this time of year are wonderful and our slow-paced walks will focus on these &amp;nbsp;flowers and the area’s great views.       <title>GVT End-to-End Day 3 – West Montrose to Kitchener Victoria St, 18 km (13 Jun 2026)</title>
      <description>&lt;p data-text="BT Iroquoia Section E2E - Day 6: Highway 6 to Guelph Line, 19 km" data-tooltip-position="bottom" data-tooltip-vertical-offset="0" data-tooltip-horizontal-offset="0" data-tooltip-only-if-necessary="true"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;About hike:&lt;/strong&gt; &lt;span&gt;This hike will cover the GVT from km 62.4 to km 42.3 in the Black Walnut section. Starting from West Montrose, we will head south towards Winterbourne, then follow roads to Bloomingdale and Rosendale, and finish through more rugged terrain to reach Victoria St. in Kitchener. This stage of the end-to-end features long stretches of road, but we’ll make the best of it, and we’ll be rewarded with more wooded areas near the end.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

The hikes will be spread over 6 weekends in the Spring, early Summer, and Fall of 2026. Feel free to join for any or all of these hikes. The hikes will be approximately 16 to 24 kms in length, and will allow time for socializing, photography and general good fellowship. If this is something you want to do, we can also assist you in maintaining a log of your walks in order to receive your end-to-end badges and chevrons. The hikes are generally not very difficult, as the terrain is mostly flat; only their length may make it challenging for some hikers.       <title>GVT End-to-End Day 4 – Kitchener Victoria St to Homer Watson Blvd, 22 km (14 Jun 2026)</title>
      <description>&lt;p data-text="BT Iroquoia Section E2E - Day 6: Highway 6 to Guelph Line, 19 km" data-tooltip-position="bottom" data-tooltip-vertical-offset="0" data-tooltip-horizontal-offset="0" data-tooltip-only-if-necessary="true"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;About hike:&lt;/strong&gt; &lt;span&gt;This hike will cover the GVT from km 42.3 to km 20.0 in the Black Walnut section. Despite the general urban nature of the environment, as the GVT alternates between staying close to the river and dipping into adjacent neighbourhoods, we should be able to enjoy a healthy dose of nature with long stretches of trail right on the banks of the Grand in the first half of the hike, and a long section through Homer Watson woods in the second half.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

      <title>Weeknight Wanders: Spring Series - Schneiders Woods - 4 to 6 km (15 Jun 2026)</title>
      <description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;About the hike:&amp;nbsp;&lt;/strong&gt;Schneider’s Woods is a new local favourite of ours that we discovered hiking the Avon Trail, which runs through this private property! With its rolling hills and beautiful vistas it is sure to please.&amp;nbsp;&lt;span&gt;Schneider's&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;Woods (also known as Schneider's Bush) is a beautiful, environmentally sensitive natural area of over 230 acres (95 hectares) located in Wilmot Township, Ontario, along the western border of Waterloo. It features a diverse terrain of glacial hills, meadows, wetlands, and mature forests. Long preserved by the Schneider family, the property has been protected as a conservation area through a donation to the rare Charitable Research Reserve.&amp;nbsp;&lt;br&gt;
NOTE about when to hiking is possible in this area and when it is not: Late Spring to Autumn (April 16 – November 29): Open for hiking, trail running, and birding. Winter Season (November 30 – April 15): Cross-country skiing is the ONLY permitted activity.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Our loops will take us through varied forest terrain, including a couple challenging hills to get those healthy hearts pumpin’! Get outside with us, move your body and breathe in some fresh forest air!&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;*We may hike in thick mud, or wade through ankle deep water, or make unplanned last minute turns to explore the variety of trails in this forest, and we welcome the fun and adventure this brings!&lt;/p&gt;

      <title>     Historic Hike - Lynn Valley Trail - Simcoe to Port Dover  - 15 KM or 24 km (20 Jun 2026)</title>

The Historic talk by Bob Rennie will begin at noon once we are at the parking lot on Prospect St. in Dover and we will hike for an hour throughout the town approximately 3 km hearing Dover's history. Lunch stop will be approximately at 1pm, you can purchase your "fish" lunch at a local restaurant or bring your lunch and sit on benches at the lighthouse pier and enjoy the view. After lunch those of us hiking back to Simcoe will continue on with the hike and those with their cars on Prospect St. can enjoy the&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt; &lt;font color="#000000"&gt;&lt;span&gt;ambience of Dover a little longer.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p data-text="BT Iroquoia Section E2E - Day 6: Highway 6 to Guelph Line, 19 km" data-tooltip-position="bottom" data-tooltip-vertical-offset="0" data-tooltip-horizontal-offset="0" data-tooltip-only-if-necessary="true"&gt;&lt;font color="#000000" style="font-size: 16px;"&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;font color="#1A1A1A"&gt;Originally part of the Grand Trunk Railway line, the rail line was still very much operational when Bob lived there (until his 20s). It became the&amp;nbsp;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;font color="#2E3030"&gt;former CNR rail line which was established along the pioneer river trail in 1873 as the Lake Huron and Port Dover Railway. The rail line was abandoned in 1988.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;strong&gt;Hike level:&lt;/strong&gt;&amp;nbsp;2 (moderate). A combination of partially paved, and mostly dirt trails through the forest, roots, mixed hilly and flat terrain, with a few steep long inclines. Possible thick mud, wet conditions in fall.&amp;nbsp;

Wear good hiking shoes/boots, merino wool socks are always a great idea, and dress in layers as needed: In the season of sun and bugs, bring sunscreen and bug repellent, hat, bug jacket. Walking poles are optional but useful, and offer an upper body workout while you walk!&amp;nbsp;

      <title>BT Iroquoia Section E2E - Day 1 Repeat: Grimbsy to Macdui, 16 km (27 Jun 2026)</title>
      <description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Day 1 Repeat:&amp;nbsp;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Grimsby to Macdui Drive&lt;/strong&gt;&amp;nbsp;will take us through the Beamer Memorial Conservation Area, and past the Beamer Falls, past Woolverton Conservation area. We will also go by McNeilly West Falls and Vinemount Falls which hopefully we might see. Maybe some other cascades on the way. But as this is a June hike - they might not be big.&amp;nbsp;&lt;span&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;strong&gt;This is a repeat of the first hike (Iroquoia E2E series). Car shuttle involved. Join Brandon on this repeat of the first hike from series of 9 hikes: End-to-End (E2E) hikes through the Iroquoia section of the Bruce Trail, to complete ~ 122 km of this section, running from Grimsby to Milton along the Niagara Escarpment. The Iroquoia section has lots to offer: beautiful waterfalls, few wineries, spectacular views specially passing near Hamilton, Mount Nemo and Kelso, and a varied terrain.&lt;font&gt;&lt;br&gt;
&lt;br&gt;&lt;/font&gt; &lt;strong&gt;Where:&lt;/strong&gt;&amp;nbsp;Grimsby area: The Bruce Trail Reference, Edition 30, Maps 5/6.&lt;br&gt;

      <title>Weeknight Wanders: Spring Series - Schneiders Woods - 4 to 6 km (29 Jun 2026)</title>
      <description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;About the hike:&amp;nbsp;&lt;/strong&gt;Schneider’s Woods is a new local favourite of ours that we discovered hiking the Avon Trail, which runs through this private property! With its rolling hills and beautiful vistas it is sure to please.&amp;nbsp;&lt;span&gt;Schneider's&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;Woods (also known as Schneider's Bush) is a beautiful, environmentally sensitive natural area of over 230 acres (95 hectares) located in Wilmot Township, Ontario, along the western border of Waterloo. It features a diverse terrain of glacial hills, meadows, wetlands, and mature forests. Long preserved by the Schneider family, the property has been protected as a conservation area through a donation to the rare Charitable Research Reserve.&amp;nbsp;&lt;br&gt;
NOTE about when to hiking is possible in this area and when it is not: Late Spring to Autumn (April 16 – November 29): Open for hiking, trail running, and birding. Winter Season (November 30 – April 15): Cross-country skiing is the ONLY permitted activity.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Our loops will take us through varied forest terrain, including a couple challenging hills to get those healthy hearts pumpin’! Get outside with us, move your body and breathe in some fresh forest air!&lt;/p&gt;

      <title>GVT End-to-End Day 5 – Kitchener Homer Watson Blvd to Glen Morris, 23 km (11 Jul 2026)</title>

We will leave Kitchener and its suburbs behind, but unfortunately, we will have to walk on roads for the first half of the hike. However, we will then be rewarded as we get to cross two very nice forests, the Dryden Tract and the Sudden Tract, before making our way to the quaint village of Glen Morris.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

The hikes will be spread over 6 weekends in the Spring, early Summer, and Fall of 2026. Feel free to join for any or all of these hikes. The hikes will be approximately 16 to 24 kms in length, and will allow time for socializing, photography and general good fellowship. If this is something you want to do, we can also assist you in maintaining a log of your walks in order to receive your end-to-end badges and chevrons. The hikes are generally not very difficult, as the terrain is mostly flat; only their length may make it challenging for some hikers. We will make up for the long hike the day before with a shorter hike today. We will follow a flat and easy former railway line from Glen Morris to Paris, and continue through Paris rive gauche to the intersection of SC Johnson trail and Powerline Rd. The trail will give us pretty good views of the river and we will stop to take pictures from the overlooks along the way.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

      <title>BT Iroquoia Section E2E - Day 9: Rattlesnake Point to Hilton Falls, 15 km (18 Jul 2026)</title>
      <description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Day 9:&amp;nbsp;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Rattlesnake Point to Hilton Falls.&lt;/strong&gt;&amp;nbsp;This is the end of our journey on the Iroquoia section of BT. We will start at Rattlesnake Point Conservation Area, continue towards Kelso and end up in Hilton Falls. There will be ~ 3 km of road walking. At the end of the hike we shall celebrate - maybe ice cream in Campbellville&lt;span&gt;&lt;span&gt;! Join Didier and Joanna on another End-to-End (E2E) trek, this one through the Iroquoia section of the Bruce Trail. This is a series of 9 hikes, to complete ~ 122 km of this section, running from Grimsby to Milton along the Niagara Escarpment. Come and hike with us, earn a badge or just have fun and, socialize. The Iroquoia section has lots to offer: beautiful waterfalls, few wineries, spectacular views specially passing near Hamilton, Mount Nemo and Kelso, and a varied terrain.&lt;br&gt;
For those whose goal is to earn a badge we will create a log. Badge cost is 10$ for BTC members or 15 for non-members. Note, you need to hike the full length of Iroquoia section to earn a badge, but if you are not able to join us on one of the hikes, you can re-do the hike on your own.&amp;nbsp;&lt;font&gt;&lt;br&gt;

      <title>Iroquoia Side Trails Badge Series: Hike #1 – Grimsby/Beamer Niagara Edge &amp; Hawkwatch (25 Jul 2026)</title>
      <description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;About this hike:&amp;nbsp;&lt;/strong&gt;This scenic hike explores the southernmost side trails of the Iroquoia section, combining escarpment top viewpoints, a wooded creek valley, and one of the best birding locations on the Niagara Escarpment. Hiking around Beamer Memorial Conservation Area, we’ll follow the Bruce Trail and complete all required Map 5 side trails, while respecting the current trail reroute due to the closed Beamer staircase.&lt;br&gt;
&lt;br&gt;
Highlights include the Grimsby Point hawk watch area, a descent into the Forty Mile Creek valley, and a walk through the Beamer Falls corridor, now incorporated into the main Bruce Trail. We’ll also complete the rugged and scenic Adam Dopko Side Trail, a classic Iroquoia connector.&lt;br&gt;
&lt;br&gt;
A short section of the hike follows the official Bruce Trail reroute along Mountain Street and Ridge Road West, implemented to maintain trail continuity while the staircase at Beamer remains closed.&amp;nbsp;&lt;br&gt;

We may hike in thick mud, or wade through ankle deep water in spring, take little detours on a variety of side trails within this park, and we welcome the fun and adventure this brings!&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p style="margin-top: 1em !important;"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Depart:&amp;nbsp;&lt;/strong&gt;Hike starts at&amp;nbsp;6:45pm. Please arrive 10 minutes earlier, at 6:35 pm. In respect of all hikers, we will not be waiting for late comers.       <title>GVT End-to-End Day 7 – Paris to Brantford, 21 km (3 Oct 2026)</title>

The trail follows the river pretty closely, even when we are in Brantford proper, so we should have an enjoyable day with nice views of the Grand.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

      <title>GVT End-to-End Day 8 – Brantford to Onondaga, 18 km (4 Oct 2026)</title>

We will pass by the Bell Homestead, where the first long-distance phone call was made. The Grand then does a lot of meandering, but the trail cuts through and rejoins the river downstream near the Grand River Mission, where we will have our lunch. Then we will continue on Salt Springs Church Rd to the village of Onondaga.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

You may want to consider parking on Brantford Rd or in adjacent streets so that we don’t monopolize the parking lot of the hall. Please check for signs as to where parking is permitted. If possible, carpool to our starting point to reduce your carbon footprint and lessen the need for parking space.&amp;nbsp;&lt;br&gt;

      <title>GVT End-to-End Day 9 – Onondaga to Caledonia, 20 km (24 Oct 2026)</title>

The trail stays some distance from the Grand, first going along the edge of the Six Nations Reserve, then going through meadows, forests and roads until it joins Hwy 54. It follows the highway (next to the river) for 3 kms before another section through meadows and woodlots, after which it rejoins Hwy 54 near Caledonia.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

      <title>GVT End-to-End Day 11 – South Cayuga, 18 km (14 Nov 2026)</title>

This series of hikes covers the entirety of the Grand Valley Trail, from the village of Belwood to the estuary of the Grand in Port Maitland. The hikes will be spread over 6 weekends in the Spring, early Summer, and Fall of 2026. Feel free to join for any or all of these hikes. The hikes will be approximately 16 to 24 kms in length, and will allow time for socializing, photography and general good fellowship. If this is something you want to do, we can also assist you in maintaining a log of your walks in order to receive your end-to-end badges and chevrons. The hikes are generally not very difficult, as the terrain is mostly flat; only their length may make it challenging for some hikers. The lodge is located in Potter County, Pennsylvania, 2.5 hours south of Buffalo close to the New York State border and is about a 5 hour drive from Kitchener-Waterloo. Hiking in the Highlands of North Central Pennsylvania, there is no agriculture or industry in the area, just great trails.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
