A series of 20 articles about the history and cultural heritage of the Grand Valley Trail has been written by Bill Haartman. Bill is a longtime member of the GVTA and his contributions to the development of the Grand Valley Trail have been enormous over the years. Bill is an accomplished hike leader, trail designer, trail maintenance worker, badge and chevron designer, Board member, Trail Director of the Towpath Section (Haldimand County) and an award winning volunteer. The 6th edition of the new and improved Guidebook is dedicated to two people and Bill is one of those volunteers.
In Bill's spare time he dabbles in historical research. Currently Bill is President of the York Grand River Historical Society. Bill's articles are published here and are entitled "Take-a-Hike". In each article Bill walks us along the Grand Valley Trail and tells us of its history. Thank you, Bill!
