The GVT Fund will be a charitable organization endowment fund established within the KW Community Foundation. The purpose of the fund will be to provide long-term investment income to the GVTA, helping ensure the sustainability of the Grand Valley Trail, the GVTA, and its programs. Please consider making a pledge to help establish the GVT Fund.
FAQs about the GVT Fund
Q. What is the fundraising target? A. $10,000 is needed to establish the fund. Much more — at least $500,000 — is needed to provide enough income to pay a part-time or full-time salary. |
Q. What is a charitable organization endowment fund? A. “A charitable organization may establish an endowment fund within the [Kitchener-Waterloo Community] Foundation and invite additions to the fund by other donors. This allows the organization freedom from investment responsibility and gives donors the confidence of knowing that a permanent foundation is in place to professionally administer the endowment.” – Kitchener Waterloo Community Foundation |
Q. Why is the GVTA asking for a pledge instead of a donation? A. The GVTA is tracking pledges until they total $10,000. Once that target is achieved, we will approach the KW Community Foundation to establish the charitable organization endowment fund for the GVT. At that time, we will ask that the pledges be donated directly to the fund. |
Q. How can I make a pledge for the GVT Fund? A. Choose one of the following forms to complete and send to GVTA. |
