Sunday, August 1, 2010 – Bruce Trail, Sydenham Hike 5 of 12. Level 2: Moderate ~ 13.4 km

johnstone_cathy@hotmail.com. Depart 9 am, km 72.3 map 31 [approximately 44.599340,-80.845269]. There is limited parking at the east end of Sideroad 22 just before it becomes an unopened road allowance. Please do not block any farm gates. The escarpment has many fascinating geological forms and cliff-edge vegetation. Crevices, caves and Ostrich ferns are just a few things we will see along the trail.
Monday, August 2, 2010 – Bruce Trail, Sydenham Hike 6 of 12. Level 2: Moderate ~ 13.2 km

johnstone_cathy@hotmail.com. Depart 9 am, Centennial Tower [approximately 44.556676,-80.925083] on the west side of Hwy 6 & 10, km 85.5 map 31. The trail passes through meadows, cedar and mixed forests. In one section we will be seeing giant dolost one blocks separated by spectacular crevices.
Saturday, August 7, 2010 – "Lois' Breakfast Hike", St. Jacobs. Level 1: Leisurely ~ 5 km

. Join us for a sunrise hike on the scenic Health Valley Trail for about an hour and a half, and then have a hearty breakfast at the Harvest Moon Restaurant in St. Jacobs. Meet at 7:00 a.m. at the far back end of the municipal Parking Lot behind the Riverworks Mall in St. Jacobs, and close to the trailhead (look for the trail kiosk). Be prepared for mud and cows on the trail.
Saturday, August 14, 2010 – Kimberley, Cuckoo and Beaver Valleys. Level 3: Fast/Strenuous ~ 22 km

. Depart 9.30 am. Parking area is Eugenia Falls, km 55.6 map 26 off Pellisier Street. Toilets at start of the trail!! This loop hike starts at Eugenia Falls described as one of the most impressive waterfalls along the Niagara Escarpment. The trail follows the edge of the Cuckoo Valley and passing by Hogg’s Falls. Great look-outs over the Beaver Valley. At the end of the walk we will brew up tea and coffee. Bring along your favourite cookies and cakes. From Toronto follow highway 10 north to Orangeville and continue northwest to Flesherton. Turn right, going east on Grey Rd 4 and then left going north on Grey rd 13. Look for signs for Eugenia Falls Conservation Authority. Eugenia Falls is accessed at the end of a short road: Pellisier St.
Sunday, August 15, 2010 – Devil’s Glen, Blue Mountain Loop Hike. Level 3: Fast/Strenuous ~ 22 km

. Depart: 9.30 AM. Parking area is at km 30.7 Map 22. Parking is off Highway 124, east of Singhampton, just east of Concession Rd 10.This is a loop hike using both the main and various side trails. The trial is through the Devil’s Glenn Provincial Park and the Nottawasaga area. The Keyhole side trail is well worth the walk. An optional refreshment stop or an early dinner at Mylar & Loretta in Singhamton, a restaurant serving home cooked meals in an 1860’s building. From Hwy 400, take exit 98, Hwy 26 towards WasagaBeach/Stayner. Left on Bayfield. Continue on Main Street onto County Rd 91. Left on County Rd 24/124.
Sunday, August 22, 2010 – Speed River Trail East of Hespeler. Level 1: Moderate ~ 9 km

. Meet at 12:55 pm for the sign-in and carpooling behind Tim Hortons, Deer Ridge Centre Plaza, Hwy 8 (King Street East), Kitchener [approximately 43.409205,-80.398391, near The Brick]. Just at the boundary of Hespeler we pick up the end of the Speed River Trail, and head east along the Speed River towards Guelph. This section is largely wooded and a few sections could be damp. Bring water and bug spray.
Thursday, August 26, 2010 – Grand Valley Trail, Kitchener Area. Level 2, Moderate, ~ 10 km

. GVT Maps 10 & 11. Meet before 9:00 a.m. on the shoulder of Ebycrest Road/Waterloo17 at km 45.2, Map 11 [43.491274,-80.447563]. Sturdy hiking boots are recommended & trekking pole(s) suggested. Bring water & a snack. No dogs & no smoking. After a car shuttle we will walk back on the GVT from the Natchez Woods area. Driving Directions: At the traffic light on Victoria St./Hwy 7 at Breslau follow Ebycrest Rd for about 2.8 km.
